More Scriptures on Marriage Restoration
Here are a few scriptures on marriage restoration.
James 5:16
James 5:16 (KJV) says:
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
I believe this to be a vital verse of scripture on marriage restoration because it shows us that an honest confession of wrong doing paves the way for spiritual and emotional healing.
Luke 4:18
In Luke 4:18, the Bible tells us that Christ came “to heal the brokenhearted”.
Couples in need will do well to understand that their healing cannot simply come from the other person. In fact, they will both need Divine intervention as there is no substitute for Supernatural healing.
Whether couples are dealing with years of hurt, overcoming adultery, or constant fighting, we find that it is less than wise to leave God’s healing power out of the equation. In fact, it should be noted that Luke 4:18 bears out that one of the reasons why Christ came was to heal the many hurts that life tends to leave.
Matthew 6:15
Forgiveness is not exactly an option in the Christian faith. This point is emphatically made in Matthew 6:15 when Jesus said:
“But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” (King James Version)
Of course, forgiveness does not mean that a spouse should facilitate negative behavior such as pornography, alcoholism, or abuse. But, it does mean that we should be willing to forgive our spouse just as God has forgiven us.
